Draw out your pool
Draw the inside dimensions of your pool (see example below) on page 3 of the PDF. Include all non-removable items withing 4 ft of the waterline. For example, coping (include width), rocks, grab rails, waterfalls, spas, ladders, raised walls, uneven decks, planters etc.

Create a Base for Measuring
5
Create Measuring Points Around Your Pool
Using chalk, mark and number a point every 3ft around your pool. Be certain to mark all corners, rail locations (front and back), fill spouts, or other obstructions if they are not removable. For all tight radius items, such as rocks, raised walls, waterfalls, or similar obstructions mark every 1ft. These items should also include a photograph. Include width of spa wall and distance between spa and pool if separate.
6
Create Your Measurements
Attach measuring tape to point A, tightly pull to point 1 and record your measurement in column A row 1 of the PDF. Then measure from point A to point 2 and so on until you reach your last numbered point. Once you have recorded all points from point A switch to point B and repeat the process.
7
Measure the Length of the Pool
On the same sketch include the overall length measurement of the pool from the two longest points. Also include the width of the pool in its widest points. See reference below. These measurements are crucial as they act as check points to ensure all other measurements are correct.
